A dystopian novel about surveillance by Adam Bender
Patriots are the True. Heretics are the Damned.
An amnesiac struggles to conform in a surveillance society in the novel acclaimed by Kirkus Reviews as “a page-turner of the highest order” and a “deeply allegorical and powerfully thought-provoking dystopian must-read.”
Seven wakes in a forest outside the capital of a nation he doesn’t recognize. When he enters the city, he discovers a surveillance society with no separation between Church and State. The government keeps a Watched list of its own citizens and deploys a police force called the Guard to sniff out Heretics. While Seven’s blank-slate perspective lets him see through the government’s propaganda, he soon draws the eyes of the Guard.
